Wind Powered Vehicle, Ventomobile, Ready To Race In The Netherlands By Josh Vanderwerf Students of the Team InVentus at Stuttgart University constructed a vehicle that runs only on wind energy. They called the Ventomobile. Many months of construction work was put into this vehicle. The Ventomobile will compete in the Aeolus Race in Den Helder (Netherlands) on a 3 km track with 5 teams from different universities and institutes from all over Europe. This race is unique around the world because the teams can only race with vehicles that rely on the power of wind. InVentus was made by students of Aerospace Engineering in cooperation with the Endowed Chair of Wind Energy. “The Ventomobile is another proof of what can be done with renewable energies”, explains Prof Martin Kühn, Endowed Chair of Wind Energy at Stuttgart University, recalling the time when solar powered vehicles were in their first stages of development. This is a very unique vehicle that will become popular throughout the world. Wind energy is another source of energy that the whole world must start to use. We cannot rely on gasoline forever.
